What the recently released draft tells us about the future of Chain of Responsibility.

What is the Master Code?

The Master Code is a registered industry code of practice under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) that provides practical guidance to help you understand and meet your legal obligations under HVNL.

Why is it Being Reviewed?

As part of a statutory review requirement, the current version (last updated in 2018) is due for a significant update. This isn't a minor refresh – we're looking at a major restructure and expansion.

Blog Post: Learn More About the Master Code now

CoRsafe’s Supply Chain Technical Manager Aaron Louws has broken down five key points from the proposed code, and what these changes might mean for businesses.

Aaron brings his extensive experience in compliance, training and chain of responsibility to your business. The article breaks down key takeaways to help you operationalise the code and meet your chain of responsibility requirements.

 What's Different This Time:

Role agnostic approach

The Code has moved from looking at the roles and responsibilities of isolated duty holders, to an activity-based exploration of the controls available to manage and ensure those activities are executed safely.

Increased guidance

Coming in at 123 pages, the proposed Code is significantly more detailed and comprehensive compared to the current version, and explores controls for risks that historically were considered outside the scope of HVNL.

Bigger picture thinking

Instead of "focusing on who’s doing what," the proposed Code places more emphasis on “what is being done” (and how to do it safely).

If any of these describe you or your business, this webinar is for you.
